New to HYVE Ether OS or just joined the closed beta? Start here. This page covers what the OS is, what your closed-beta access includes, and exactly what to expect once you're in.

What HYVE Ether OS is

HYVE Ether OS is a desktop operating system built around AI agents as first-class citizens rather than apps you launch and quit. It is sovereign and agent-native: it runs on your own hardware, keeps your data on your machine in files only your user account can read, and can run your AI workloads locally with no cloud LLM required. The OS registers your license once and sends no telemetry.

HYVE's design uses ML-KEM-768 post-quantum key exchange; it is not yet in the shipped build. HYVE Ether OS is patent pending: 10 U.S. patent applications filed (9 provisional, 1 nonprovisional). HYVE LLM Creator is coming soon. The full feature tour is at /os, and you can try an in-browser facsimile of the shell at /try.

What the closed beta gets you

The closed beta gets you into the private beta and entitles you to every release we ship during it — no subscription, no recurring charge. Installed systems don't update automatically yet; new releases are a fresh download. HYVE Ether OS is not on public sale right now; access is by request.

The beta has been live since July 1, 2026, and members receive their access by email. Right now, downloads of the 2.1.2 image are paused while we inspect it; your license stays valid.

What happens once you're in

Once your closed-beta access is confirmed, the flow is:

  1. STEP 01
    You get a confirmation email with your closed-beta license key. Keep this email — your password manager is the recommended home for the key.
  2. STEP 02
    Your closed-beta status is recorded against the email you registered. You can review it any time from your account portal (sign in with a one-time magic link — no password to remember).
  3. STEP 03
    Now that the beta is live (since July 1, 2026), you receive a second email with your beta access and step-by-step install instructions. Your license key never expires, so there is no deadline to redeem it.

INSTALL FROM THE OFFICIAL EMAIL ONLY

The closed beta went live on July 1, 2026. Downloads of HYVE Ether OS are paused while we inspect the 2.1.2 image. Your license stays valid. Updates are posted at hyveether.com/progress. When downloads resume, closed-beta members get the OS through the official access email they receive once their access is confirmed. Only ever install HYVE Ether OS from that official link — anyone telling you to download and install it from anywhere else is not us.

Will it run on my machine?

HYVE Ether OS targets x86_64 desktops and laptops. The hardware page lists the explicit minimums and the team's own development and test machines (not a compatibility certification), and the FAQ covers dual-boot, virtual machines, and the current Apple Silicon situation. If your machine is on the unsupported list, hold off on requesting closed-beta access until the matching roadmap phase.
